I am Xiaoli Dong, a bioinformatician working in Energy Bioengineering Group of Geoscience department at Univeristy of Calgary. My background in both biology and computing science has given me the passion to pursue the career in Bioinformatics fields. My main responsibilities are:
- Development and implementation of computational pipelines for genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metagenomic, metatranscriptomic, and metaproteomic data analysis
- Providing advice and support to scientists, investigators, and students with wide-ranging data analysis requests
- Administration of servers, big data, scripts, and programs.
- Mentoring and supporting students and postdoctor running their own pipelines for data analyses
- Independent monitoring of the scientific literature for new developments and adoption, implementation, and extension of such developments.
In my leisure time, I am a yoga lover, like hiking, graphic design, and enjoy working outdoor in the garden in the summer time.
